Today the topic of rant is: Zoella (Zoe Sugg's) new book, Girl Online. For those that don't know, Zoella, or Zoe Sugg, is a British Youtuber with other 6 million subscribers, her own beauty range and (as of the 25th of November) a book called Girl Online.
Which she wrote herself, obviously.
Ha. No.
Now, don't get me wrong, I have a HUGE amount of respects for Zoe; she's funny, incredibly uplifting, inspiring. I really like her, and this will have no effect on how I feel about her and her channel. But a few days ago, Zoe's publishers revealed that Girl Online was ghost written, which basically means she didn't write it herself.
WHY.
Her book is currently selling (now this is pretty incredible) faster than JK ROWLING. JK FLIPPING ROWLING. WHAT. Although, I think it's generally because she's really well known. The main reason I'm buying her book is because I want(ed) to see how well she could write. If she wasn't so incredibly well known and loved among millions of loyal fans, the book would probably sell okay, but just not JK Rowling style.
Something that just irritates me a little is the the fact that she didn't even have to work for her book. Bringing JK Rowling back into the chat again, I'm sure you all know that she was turned down by 12 PUBLISHERS before the Philosopher's Stone was actually put in the shops. She worked so hard to get where she is now, and I just feel as if Zoe doesn't deserve it as much as she should.
Side note: Fans of Zoella may of seen the vlog she posted, 'Seeing My Book Get Printed' or something like that and wow. She's SO EXCITED for someone that didn't even write the book. I don't know, maybe I wouldn't understand. Maybe I'm being unfair. But these are my views and I'd love to know yours
